President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić attended today the reception on the USA Independence Day and on that occasion handed over a congratulatory message to Ambassador Antonio Godfrey, addressed to President Joseph Biden, which reads as follows:
"Every 4 July citizens of the USA celebrate memory of a fight for freedom and independence, crowned in Declaration of Independence, adopted 245 years ago. We, in Serbia, share universal values, reflected in the Declaration, that “all men are created equal, and that they are endowed with unalienable Rights, to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
Precisely because of the idea of freedom loving, and inspired by belief in truth and justice, in difficult historical moments, Serbia was an ally to the USA. In the light of the 140th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between our countries, such examples of historical alliance should serve as guidance for further development of our relations.
Serbia is committed to stronger cooperation with the USA, which we see as a partner in all areas of mutual interest, as well as in facing different challenges of today. I am convinced that our friendly relations contribute to peace and stability in the region, which we highly appreciate, as well as to promotion of shared values, and to the benefit of safer and more prosperous world. Allow me therefore to tell you how pleased I am for concrete steps in strengthening of our bilateral cooperation, such as opening of regional office of the International Finance Corporation in Belgrade," reads the congratulation of President Vučić.
