Printer Friendly Version STATEMENT BY THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA @ 23 December 2020 03:07 PM

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia hereby denies the allegations of some domestic media that Serbian citizens temporarily working abroad will be obliged to pay income taxes both to the country of temporary residence and to the Republic of Serbia.

We believe that these catastrophically intoned texts that are discussing the topic directly concerning a large number of citizens of the Republic of Serbia living and working abroad are actually based on insufficiently researched facts. These texts are unreasonably creating concern among our citizens which can be concluded from the increased number of  inquiries to diplomatic and consular missions of the Republic of Serbia.

We appeal to the residents of Serbia who are temporarily abroad not to pay attention to incorrect and sensationally intoned texts on this topic because when it comes to taxation procedures for concerning that category of our citizens fundamentally nothing will change in relation to the previous practice.

We strongly believe that behind the irresponsible and inaccurate media articles on this topic there is actually no bed intention but simple misunderstanding and we emphasize that Serbia is doing and will continue to do everything to help the members of its diaspora in every possible way.
